*Innocent Sin
Despite his seemingly standoffish demeanor, Tatsuya is considered to be the coolest guy in Seven Sisters High School, earning him admiration by most of the female students. Childhood friend Lisa Silverman has been pursuing him for some time now, much to his discomfort and chagrin. Tatsuya also shares a special bond with Jun Kurosu, who exchanged mementos with him as a child.
During a confrontation with Eikichi "Captain Death" Mishina at Sumaru Prison (a live house where Eikichi's band "Gas Chamber" often practices) Tatsuya reawakens to his Persona ability which had been suppressed ever since middle school, where he almost killed some boys that he was fighting with.
He later meets Maya Amano and Yukino Mayuzumi at Sevens, going with them to investigate the Joker Charm and find out why the Joker is so obsessed with killing him, as was revealed when he appeared and assaulted them prior.
Note: Significant plot details follow.
Upon Maya's demise, Philemon tells Tatsuya and the group that they have the potential to change time and bring her back to life, but at the inevitable expense of their memories. Though initially hesitant, Tatsuya goes through with it, promising to meet with everyone in the new world. Midway through the process, Tatsuya loses control, and starts refusing to forget what happened. This was the sin that would soon cause history to repeat itself.
*Eternal Punishment
Tatsuya is first seen at the Araya Shrine, pondering the sin he had committed on becoming the paradox of this world. He sets out to correct this error on his own, trying his darnedest not to involve Maya in it, fearing that she would die again if her memories from the other side return. His efforts would prove fruitless because of Nyarlathotep's constant interference and Maya's nagging curiosity towards Tatsuya (who is referred to as the "Déjà Vu Boy") and why she seems to know him from somewhere. He later joins Maya in the fight against the New World Order, resolving to do a better job of protecting her this time around.
